We look up at the same stars and see such different things….

With the arrival of summer my thoughts turn to the sky. More often than not, I find myself looking up at the stars on warm summer nights. Sometimes it helps me think. Other times I think of nothing and just admire the beauty of the cosmos. We all see something different. Some people see a wish to be made. Others see a frontier that must be explored. Whatever we see one thing is true, the universe has inspired humankind in many ways and with that inspiration came advances in science. Here are some things we can thank space exploration for:

  • Water Filtration and Purification
  • CAT Scans
  • Scratch resistant lenses
  • Cell Phone cameras
  • The hand-held vacuum cleaner
  • Firefighter breathing apparatus
  • Blankets for Marathon runners
  • Freeze dried meals and baby food
  • Heart surgery – The lasers used were originally developed by NASA to monitor gases in the atmosphere of the Earth.
  • Artificial Limbs
  • Satellite Television
  • Voice-controlled wheelchairs

If you have an interest in the universe try reading one of the titles below or look up some of the many others titles we’ve published on the subject.
